Notes/Other Information
A Canadian “interdimensional” quartet formed in 2007, TWRP blends electronic rock, synth-pop, electro-funk and funk rock into high-energy, costumed performances. Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, they relocated to Toronto in 2011 and self-release all their material. Their six studio albums—spanning from their 2010 debut Poised to Dominate to 2024’s Digital Nightmare—feature key tracks that both define their signature retro-futuristic sound and highlight recent collaborations, including the fan-favorite “Starlight Brigade.” Beyond their own releases, TWRP are best known for backing Ninja Sex Party live and in the studio since 2015.
TWRP always perform in full sci-fi costumes, hiding their real identities behind personas like Doctor Sung and Lord Phobos (TWRP (band)). They maintain a fictional space-time backstory, and since 2015 they’ve been the backing band and openers for Ninja Sex Party both live and on albums (TWRP (band)). Their music videos and art—often illustrated by Lazerhorse—combine 1980s nostalgia with futuristic aesthetics, reflecting their motto of “returning to wherever” in time and space (Return to Wherever | Twrp Wikia | Fandom).
